  9. NOTES FOR BOTH RELEASES
  10.  
  11. You must use Asymetrix Digital Video Producer(TM):
  12.  
  13. To use the Intel Smart Video Recorder Pro successfully, you must use it with Asymetrix Digital 
  14. Video Producer.  This is because DVP installs several files that ISVR Pro requires to run.
  15.  
  16. Jerkiness in Preview mode:
  17.  
  18. If you see jerkiness in your video while in Preview mode, don't panic.  Preview mode doesn't 
  19. reflect the frame rate you've chosen for capture.  Also, you may see jerkiness if you're in 
  20. Preview mode but you have the focus on another application (i.e., the DVP window is NOT the 
  21. highlighted window).  To fix this, return the focus to the DVP window.

  23. Data rates:

  25.  Note that there are two ways to control the data rate of .avi files captured with DVP:
  26.  
  27.  1. The data rate slider provides an approximate data rate target; the actual data rate may 
  28.     vary.
  29.  2. The quality slider provides the lowest to the highest data rates possible for a given video 
  30.     clip.

  32. Frame rates:
  33.  
  34.  We recommend using these frame rates:
  35.  
  36.  NTSC users:    30   24   15   12   10
  37.  (multiples of 6 seem to work best)
  38.  
  39.  PAL users:     25   12   10
  40.  
  41. Compressing for CD-ROM:
  42.  
  43.  While we recommend using a data rate of 135 KB/sec for single spin CD-ROMs, note that lower 
  44.  end playback machines may require 110 KB/sec (single spin).
  45.  
  46.  Be sure to select CD-ROM padding when you're compressing for CD-ROM.  CD-ROM padding will 
  47.  give you smoother playback.

  49. Offline compression too slow?:
  50.  
  51. Try a Pentium_ processor.  You'll notice a dramatic improvement.
  52.  
  53. ISVR Pro size:
  54.  
  55. You need about 3 MB of hard disk space for the ISVR Pro files.  (This does not include the 
  56. space you need for Asymetrix Digital Video Producer.)
  57.  
  58. Windows Sound System:
  59.  
  60. If you're using Windows Sound System and you're having audio problems, we recommend that you 
  61. upgrade to Windows Sound System Release 2.0.  (To get this release, contact Microsoft.)

  63. Restart problems:
  64.  
  65. If you click Restart Windows at the end of the installation and your screen goes blank, just 
  66. reboot your system.

  68. WHAT'S NEW IN R1.1
  69.  
  70. Uninstall:
  71.  
  72. Now Uninstall won't remove the ISVR Pro driver if it's currently being used by another program.

  74. Driver:
  75.  
  76. The driver now uses substantially less low DOS memory.
  77.  
  78. Changes for video capture application developers.  The driver now initializes to the last-used 
  79. or default state.
  80.  
  81. New Crop control.  The Video Source dialog now has a Crop slider for cropping visual artifacts 
  82. at the visual perimeter (for example, ragged or "torn" edges in the video image).  Facts about 
  83. the Crop control:
  84.  
  85.     The Crop slider has nine settings ranging from 0 for no cropping to 8 for maximum 
  86.     cropping.
  87.  
  88.     Cropping is applied evenly around all four edges to maintain the correct aspect ratio 
  89.     (so, in effect, it magnifies the image).
  90.  
  91.     Cropping is not allowed for NTSC images at 320x240 or 640x480 resolutions.
  92.  
  93.     Cropping is not allowed for images that have been zoomed or panned by a video capture 
  94.     application that supports zooming or panning.
